Second Victim dies in Motorcycle Crash

October 14, 2013 Posted By Vanguard Attorneys

Two lives have been claimed in connection with a motorcycle accident that took place on Friday, October 4th in Myrtle Beach, SC. Virginia resident Stephanie Weeks, 36, succumbed to her injuries the next day in connection with the accident, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Williard.

Weeks was a passenger on a 3-wheeled motorcycle, more commonly referred to as a trike, when it struck an SUV on a Highway Bypass route. Weeks’ husband, Thomas III, 43, was driving the trike at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.

According to information provided by police, it appears the 3-wheeled motorcycle was proceeding in the northbound lanes on the bypass. The rider inexplicably drifted over into the southbound lanes, went airborne, and slammed into the front windshield of the SUV. Police don’t know what caused the rider to leave his lane or why the trike abruptly flew out of control. Furthermore, it is unknown whether alcohol or a potential health condition contributed to the crash.

The man and woman who were in the SUV are from Maryland. Both were treated on scene for minor injuries and did not require any further medical attention.

Myrtle Beach Police explained that nobody stopped to provide a witness statement or explanation and they are asking anyone with information to call the Myrtle Beach police department.
