On Monday, February 1st, two Tampa residents were injured in the late afternoon
hours when a motorcycle collided with a minivan, according to information
provided by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Mohammad Saed, age 17, was riding a Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle heading
westbound on Fletcher Avenue approaching 19th Street just around 4:20pm.
At the same time, Victor Chadee, age 69, was travelling eastbound on Fletcher
in a Ford Windstar minivan. Chadee began to turn left onto 19th Street,
crossing into the path of the motorcycle, deputies explained. Saed attempted
to brake and entered a skid. Unable to stop in time, the motorcycle struck
the van on the passenger’s side. Saed was carrying a passenger on
the motorcycle at the time of the crash.
Saed was rushed by ambulance to Tampa General Hospital where doctors have
listed him in critical condition. His passenger, Mariangillette Viera-Rivera,
age 32, was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where she is reported
to be in stable condition, according to deputies. The driver of the minivan
was not injured in the accident.
No charges have been filed at this time, but the case remains under investigation,
deputies said. It was not made clear whether the driver of the minivan
was cited in connection with the accident. This crash was the second motorcycle
crash in the Tampa area within that week. Both crashes involved a vehicle
turning left and crossing into the path of an approaching motorcycle.
