Arthenia JoynerSenator Arthenia Joyner, an Of Counsel Attorney for Vanguard Attorneys, has been recognized by the Junior League of Tampa in partnership with WEDU as a part of The Luminaries for 2016. This recognition is designated for the outstanding men and women who have had an impact on the community in Tampa through leadership. This recognition means that Arthenia Joyner has proven to be an inspiration in women’s issues, civil rights issues, and more in Tampa.

Attorney Joyner was Hillsborough County’s first African American female lawyer. She is well-respected by her peers and other legal professionals for her persistence in the law. She always tries to do what she feels is best for those who trust her in her position. She is a supporter of people standing up for what they believe in and taking action whenever it is necessary to make your voice heard.

“You have to stand up for what you believe in. It was my belief and I knew that as an American, as a black woman whose ancestors helped build this country, that I had a right to be respected and treated like every other American. I was willing to stand up, go to jail, or die for what I believe was right.”

At Vanguard Attorneys, we are extremely proud to have Arthenia Joyner as part of our staff and we recognize the impact she has had on our community. We admire her leadership and her values, and we would like to congratulate her on this and all recognitions she earns.
