Arthenia Joyner Receives the Distinguished Civil Rights Advocate Award

We are proud to announce that Arthenia Joyner, who serves as of counsel to our law firm, has received the Distinguished Civil Rights Advocate Award from The Lawyers’ Committee in conjunction with theNational Bar Association. She will be presented with the prestigious accolade during the NBA’s 88th Annual Convention on Tuesday July 30th from 6-9 pm at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach located at 4441 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida 33140.
Ms. Joyner will be honored with the award for her outstanding efforts and achievements concerning the issue of civil rights and equality. A pioneer in the legal industry, she was the first black female attorney in Hillsborough County. Always one to seize opportunities to make a lasting impact on the community and help others, Joyner is known throughout the nation as an ardent activist for civil and human rights issues.
Her incredible commitment and relentless efforts have earned her numerous awards throughout her career as a Florida attorney and State Senator. Recently, The Florida Association of Counties named Joyner the 2013 “County Champion” for her dedication to local community members, government issues and improving public policy. She was also one of 18 members of the Florida Legislature recognized as “Champions of Florida’s Middle Class” for her unyielding efforts to protect Florida’s middle class through job protection, health care access and ethics reform.
