Steffen earned his J.D from The Florida State University College of Law in 2016, graduating cum laude. Throughout his legal practice, Steffen has built a reputation as a formidable opponent known for his strategic thinking and effectiveness in the courtroom. He has fought on behalf of his clients and strives to obtain justice, no matter how challenging or complex the case.
Prior to joining Vanguard Attorneys, Steffen was an associate attorney at two statewide litigation firms (Cole, Scott & Kissane and Kubicki Draper); however, he felt compelled to leave the defense side and has since devoted his practice to representing individuals involved in complex civil litigation. His experience working on the defense side provides him with valuable insight related to a broad range of issues which arise when advocating against large insurance companies. In addition to defense work, Steffen has experience representing contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals in construction defect litigation. He has also handled construction worksite injury claims, nursing home malpractice claims, and medical malpractice claims.
Steffen is active in various service organizations and passionate about giving back to the community. He has volunteered his time with Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Wills for Heroes program and at Leon County Teen Court in Tallahassee. Steffen was the recipient of Florida State’s College of Law Distinguished Pro Bono Award because of his efforts to positively impact the lives of young Floridians.
Originally from the Bronx in New York, Steffen is an avid New York Jets fan and Florida Gators supporter. When he’s not practicing law, Steffen enjoys traveling, playing sports and spending time with his wife Rebeccah and their dog, Newman.
