Georgia Brothers Killed in Car Accident Near Disney
On Sunday, January 5th, a fatal car crash near Disney World claimed the lives of two brothers from Georgia. Last week, troopers opened an investigation in an attempt to determine exactly what could have caused the fatal crash to occur. Mark, 35, and Douglas Gibson, 32, were visiting Orlando on a business trip for their family run business, Heritage Charity Auctions & Award.
The siblings were travelling in an Audi (SUV) heading eastbound on the entrance ramp to Interstate 4 from Epcot Center Drive. Just around 8pm, their vehicle abruptly veered off the paved roadway and onto the south shoulder. Digging into the soft shoulder caused the SUV to roll over twice and land on its roof.
Sgt. Kim Montes, the Florida Highway Patrol’s (FHP) spokesperson, told reporters the cause of the accident was still a mystery and further investigation would be needed. She noted that both Gibson brothers were wearing seatbelts and police did not suspect any involvement of alcohol in the crash.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Both Gibson brothers helped run their family business, Heritage Charity Auctions & Award based in Cumming, GA, according their obituaries.
