On the evening of Wednesday, August 22nd, a two-car crash injured Bruce Weatherholt, a 48-year-old man from Sorrento, and killed Cynthia Ezel, a 47-year old woman from Mount Dora. According to the to Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on a curved stretch of roadway on State Road 46 in Lake County, Florida.

Ezel was headed east around 10:20pm and lost control of her 1997 Pontiac Sedan as she failed to properly navigate a curve. Weatherholt was driving in his 2001 Dodge pick-up truck in the opposite lane. Ezel’s car spun into the oncoming lane and struck the 2001 Dodge. The impact forced the truck to spin off of the road. The Pontiac came to a rest in the westbound lane, blocking oncoming traffic. Ezel died on the scene while Weatherholt was transported to Florida Hospital Apopka with minor injuries.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the car accident. Early details indicate that road conditions were normal/dry, but further investigation is needed to determine whether alcohol, distracted driving, or equipment failure played any contributing roles in the primary cause of the crash.
